Jim Parsons was born on March 24th, 1973 in Houston, TX. Parsons plays the role of Sheldon Cooper who has developed into one of the funniest characters currently on television. Parsons recently won an Emmy in 2010 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on The Big Bang Theory. Parsons was also nominated for the same award the year prior but didnt win. Below we will explore Parsons acting career leading up to his role on The Big Bang Theory.
Parsons landed his first acting role in 2002 when he played Chet on an episode of Ed. Parsons first notable role was in 2004 as Tim in the movie Garden State which starred the gifted Zach Braff. It was a small role for Jim but gave him some exposure on the big screen. Jim eventually was cast in his first recurring television role in 2004 as Rob Holbrook on Judging Amy where he appeared in seven episodes.
Parson continued following his acting passion taking spots on both television and film but it wouldnt be until 2007 that Parsons would catch his big break as Sheldon Cooper on the Chuck Lorre hit comedy, The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon Cooper is the self centered egotistical super brain who believes he is a gift to the planet. Sheldon lives with his best friend Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) across the hall from the beautiful Penny (Kaley Cuoco). Sheldon delivers his scientific rants remarkably well for someone who doesnt have a scientific background. Sheldon is often at the heart of some of the funniest moments that The Big Bang Theory has to offer. Jim Parsons is just one of the amazingly talented members of The Big Bang Theory cast.
